AQUAFIN-2K/M Slip Resistance Confirmed with ASTM C-1028 Testing
AQUAFIN-2K/M, a highly flexible waterproof coating, has been on the market for +35 years with unsurpassed flexibility compared to other cement-based waterproofing products. Being a cement and sand based product the finished surface has always provided a “non-slip” wearing surface, however its actual static coefficient of friction (COF) has not been tested until recently.
An independent laboratory has now confirmed what we have always known to be true – AQUAFIN-2K/M provides a truly “non-slip” wearing surface, both wet and dry. This means specifiers and owners can choose this coating with confidence to be used as a finished wearing surface in water parks, amusement parks, plaza decks, etc., knowing that end users will not be at a higher risk for potential slips and falls.
Even when sealed with the acrylic sealer AQUAFIN-CS/250, the COF is well above the ADA required limits:
- Dry surfaces sealed with CS/250: 1.2 COF (ADA requirement = 0.8 on ramps)
- Wet surfaces sealed with CS/250: 0.9 COF (ADA requirement = 0.6 or higher)
AQUAFIN-2K/M is a versatile product with many additional advantages such as its unsurpassed flexibility for a cement-based coating (up to 70% elongation), UV stability, NSF/ANSI Standard 61 certification for use in potable water tanks and freeze/thaw resistance. The product can be applied to substrates as a waterproofing membrane under tiles or other finishes, or as a stand alone coating. It can also be fully submerged and will not harm plants or animals when used in zoo and marine applications.

Based on the same technology as the AQUAFIN-2K/M, these products are cementitious, flexible and waterproof, but have been modified to be able to create decorative finishes as well as applications subjected to heavier load bearing such as parking decks.
