Poseidon's Rage - One of the world's largest surf pools. Poseidon's Rage unleashes wave after towering wave - up to 9 feet tall! Every 90 seconds brings a new wall of water ... and another chance to discover water-rushing, board-whirling exhilaration like nothing else in the Dells.
Waterproofing this pool posed some significant challenges for the designers. The waves created in the pool exert a large amount of force which results in dynamic shifting of the structure. Fearful that a rigid coating would not withstand this movement other options were considered. AQUAFIN-2K/M was chosen due to its superior flexibility and abrasion resistance. With elongation of up to 60% the coating was the perfect solution. It would be able to withstand the movement in the substrate as well as the other environmental conditions such as chlorine, UV exposure and pedestrian traffic. The AQUAFIN-2K/M had the added advantage of being able to be finished with a non-slip surface, without multiple steps or products. The material was spray applied, creating a relatively textured surface which provides swimmers with a good hold when facing the rough waters created by the waves.
