Chem-Guard UV delivers long-term durability for demanding interior and exterior environments. Typical Applications: Chem-Guard UV is suitable for a wide range of interior and exterior floor applications, including: • Parking garages • Industrial, manufacturing, and warehouse facilities • Laboratories, research facilities, and pharmaceutical production plants • Power generating plants • Aircraft hangars • Petrochemical plants • Food production plants • Automotive repair businesses • Trade school training shops • Pulp and paper industry • Steel structures and bridges • Marine industry • Rail and subway industries • Mining industry • Tunnels • Commercial and retail buildings Advantages: • Easy to apply • Impact-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and chemical-resistant • Excellent color retention and gloss stability • UV stable Site Mock-up: Aquafin recommends installation of a field sample of min. 100 ft² (9.3 m²) at the project site or other pre-selected area as agreed to by owner’s representative and applicator. • Apply all materials to field sample area in the correct sequence. Follow all manufacturer’s written instructions. • Maintain field sample during construction as the standard for workmanship comparison. Use field sample as standard for judging color and texture on remainder of project. Do not alter, move, or destroy field sample until work is completed and approved by owner’s representative.

All data are average values obtained under laboratory conditions. In practical use temperature, humidity and absorbance of the substrate may influence the above given values. Dynamic coefficient of friction values will vary depending on final surface texture achieved at the jobsite.
Substrate Preparation: • Chem-Guard UV can only be applied over Aquafin’s VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG2 or VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG3. Refer to the current VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG2 or VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG3 Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for substrate preparation. • Pay close attention to recoat times and ensure that Chem-Guard UV is applied over VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG2, or VAPORTIGHT COAT®SG3 within the specified recoat window. • For best results, all exterior horizontal surfaces should be sloped according to industry standards to facilitate water removal. Jobsite Preparation: • Protect adjacent areas from Chem-Guard UV. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. •O nly proceed with application when ambient and surface temperatures are between 65°F to 95°F (18°C to 35°C) and falling and more than 6°F (3°C) above the dew point. •D o not apply Chem-Guard UV when temperatures are expected to fall below 60°F (16°C) within 24 hours after placement. •D o not apply Chem-Guard UV when the humidity is at or above 90%. • Do not apply Chem-Guard UV when rain is expected within 24 hours after placement. •H ot surfaces should be cooled and shaded while cold surfaces should be heated and sheltered. Mixing: • Condition Chem-Guard UV components A and B to 70°F to 80°F (21°C to 27°C) prior to mixing and application. • Boxing material is recommended to ensure color uniformity. Chem-Guard UV • Chem-Guard UV kits are supplied in the appropriate mixing ratio. Always mix full units. • Once containers have been opened, mix and use material as soon as possible. • Pre-mix each of the “A” and “B” components individually to ensure all raw material and pigments are dispersed uniformly. • Combine Side-A and Side-B and mix thoroughly until uniform color is attained. Mix for at least 5 minutes. Thoroughly scrape sides and bottom of pail as material is mixed. • Mix at slow speeds (not exceeding 500 rpm) using a high torque drill with a mixing paddle. • Take care not to entrain air into the material as this may result in pinhole blisters and/or shortened pot life. • Apply Chem-Guard UV immediately after mixing. Application: Read all instructions thoroughly on this Technical Data Sheet (TDS) as well as the TDS for VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG2 or VAPORTIGHT COAT®SG3. Follow instructions for mixing and application, recoat times, cure times, and other important information. • To maximize the working time and for best results, it is recommended to pour the entire contents of mixed material on to the substrate immediately after mixing. •A lways apply in a monolithic application. Each layer in the system must be a uniformly thick, void-free, continuous membrane across the entire surface of the application area. • Apply in a continuous wet-on-wet application to minimize lines and/or streaking. Apply Chem-Guard UV: Apply Chem-Guard UV one coat at at time using an airless sprayer, conventional spray equipment, brush or roller. Follow the corresponding instructions below. Refer to Coverage Rate Chart on this TDS for application rates and number of coats. • Airless Sprayer: Apply Chem-Guard UV with a Graco 28:1 pump or higher or Binks airless spray gun with Reversal-Clean 0.017-0.019 spray tips and 3/8” solvent resistant fluid line. Adjust pump pressure to the lowest possible setting that provides proper atomization. • Conventional Spray Equipment: Apply Chem-Guard UV with Binks, DeVilbiss, Graco, or Nordson brands of pressure pots or air assisted airless or high volume low pressure systems. • Brush: Apply Chem-Guard UV with a solvent resistant mohair or natural bristle brush with feather edge. • Roller: Apply Chem-Guard UV with a solvent resistant phenolic core, short nap sheep-skin or similar natural roller cover. Curing: • Curing times, working times, and drying times are approximate and will vary depending on ambient (air) temperature, the temperature of Chem-Guard UV in the packaging, surface temperature of cured VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG2 or VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG3, and the application thickness. • High temperatures, and high humidity will shorten the curing time and working time. Low temperatures and low humidity will extend the curing time. For water-holding/water containment applications, ask your local Aquafin representative about AQUAFIN-1K and AQUAFIN-2K/M products. • Contact Aquafin’s Technical Department or your local Aquafin Representative for guidance in mixing and placing when jobsite conditions are outside the recommended limits. • Projects and applications not listed on this TDS require pre-approval from Aquafin’s Technical Department prior to application in order to qualify for any type of warranty. Contact Aquafin’s Technical Department or your local Aquafin Representative for assistance. •C hem-Guard UV and VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG2 or VAPORTIGHT COAT®-SG3 should be applied to the entire floor surface in order to perform effectively. Clean-up: Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with an environmentally safe solvent. Cured material must be removed mechanically. Storage & Shelf Life: •S torage: Store material between 65°F to 90°F (18°C to 32°C) in a dry environment, out of direct sunlight and away from sparks, open flame, and moisture. Protect material from freezing. •S helf Life: 1 year in sealed original, unopened, undamaged containers when stored according to conditions listed above. Note: Proper application is the sole responsibility of the user. Applicators are expected to follow ICRI and ACI guidelines, common concrete practices, and other applicable industry standards. Aquafin personnel and representatives are not site inspectors or construction project managers and therefore do not approve surface preparation, mixing, or application of Aquafin products. Site visits by Aquafin personnel or representatives are solely for the purpose of making technical recommendations, not for providing supervision or quality control.
