There are no additional ingredients present which, within the current knowledge of the supplier and in the
concentrations applicable, are classified as hazardous to health or the environment and hence not require reporting
in this section.
Section 4 – First Aid Measures
Supply fresh air and consult a physician in case of symptoms.
Material is expected to be inert in the digestive tract, but chronic ingestion must be
avoided due to unknown effects. Consult a physician.
Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. If a person vomits, place him/her in the
recovery position. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Wash off with soap and water. If the material dries on the skin, abrasive soap may be
indicated, or vegetable (cooking) oil, or aerosol lecithin (PAM) may be used to lift the
material off the skin (rub it gently on the material) then wash with mild soap and water. If
redness, etc. persists, consult a physician.
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting upper and lower
eyelids occasionally. Emulsion is alkaline. Consult a physician.
Section 5 – Fire Fighting Measures
Auto ignition Temperature:
Not combustible while in liquid/uncured form.
Hazardous combustion Products:
Will produce water vapor and carbon deoxidized with efficient air. In
circumstances involving reduced air availability, may produce Carbon
monoxide (CO) and heavy black smoke.

Special Fire Fighting Procedures:
In the event of a fire, wear full protective clothing and NIOSH-approved
self-contained breathing apparatus with full face-piece operated in the

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Containers can build up pressure if exposed to heat (fire). Cool closed
containers exposed to fire with water spray.

Section 6 – Accidental Release Measures
Measures for Cleaning/Collecting:
Wear appropriate protective equipment (see section 8). Contain and
collect spillage with absorbent materials, i.e. sand, earth, vermiculite,
diatomaceous earth, acid and universal binders, sawdust, and place in
container for disposal. Prevent material from reaching sewage and
drainage systems or bodies of water.
Section 7 – Handling and Storage
Avoid prolonged contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Keep out of reach of
children. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store open containers.
DO NOT HEAT. Store in original container, away from foodstuffs. Store
containers tightly closed in a cool (frost free), well ventilated place.
May react with strong oxidizing agents and acids.
Section 8 – Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Eye-wash bottle must be available.
The product does not contain any relevant quantities of materials that have to be
monitored at the workplace.
Provide good (mechanical) room ventilation to control any air contaminants.
Not generally required if room is well ventilated. In case of insufficient ventilation
wear suitable respiratory equipment. When workers are facing concentrations
above the exposure limit they must use NIOSH approved respirators.
When installing, wear appropriate protective gloves (butyl, rubber) to prevent
hand-skin exposure. Wear appropriate impervious clothing to prevent skin

The International Agency for research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that there is sufficient
evidence for the carcinogenicity of extract of steam-refined bitumen, air-refined bitumen and
pooled mixtures of steam and air-refined bitumen in experimental animals. Possible skin cancer
hazard based on tests with laboratory animals. This product may contain polynuclear aromatic
hydrocarbons, some of which may be types that have been shown to cause skin cancer in
laboratory animals. This product has not been tested as a whole for all potential health effect. It
may have other health hazards related to its components. Skin contact, breathing of mists, fumes
or vapors should be reduced to a minimum to avoid any ill effects. Chronic health effects would not
be expected as long as good hygiene and proper safety precautions are practiced.
